You might be asking yourself why in the world would I want to get my junior golfer a golf towel? After all, you can barely get your kids to pick up their towels after a shower and probably don't want to add to the chaos!! We're here to break down the importance of a golf towel and why you can get one for your kids.
In this blog, we'll cover the primary functions for a junior golf towel as well as the primary types of towels out there.
There are three primary uses for a golf towel: 1) cleaning clubs/equipment, 2) keeping junior golfers cool on the course, and 3) fashion statement.
Primary Funtions
Cleaning Clubs / Equipment
One of the biggest investment you make in golf is the clubs themselves. If you think about it, these clubs take a beating as they are exposed to multiple types of surfaces and elements over the course of a golf season. Your junior golfers clubs will touch everything from grass, dirt, sand, rock, mud, leaves, and dare I say snow/ice? Keeping the clubs fresh and the grooves clean will help ensure your kids have the correct impact between the club face and ball allowing for the correct distance, launch angle, and spin that will help your kids play their best. The gold standard for cleaning clubs during the round is using a golf towel after every shot!
Keeping Cool
Golf is often played in the summer timeframe when the sun is shining and the temps are hot! Juniors have to work a little harder as they typically have to walk when playing on their own and don't get access to the carts. They are likely to work up a sweat and need to stay cool. Golf towel are super water absorbent and can stay wet for most of the round. Your junior can keep soaking them at each water cooler stop so they can cool off throughout the round. Maintaining an optimal body temperature will help with focus and concentration so your junior golfer can remember every aspect of their lessons and play their best.
Pro Tip: We don't recommend using the same towel to clean clubs and keep cool.
Looking Cool
For some of us, like myself, clean clubs and cool temps won't improve our game. But that doesn't stop us from looking cool out there. Golf bags are expensive and aren't replaced frequently. Golf bags for children are also very limited in style and color combinations. The limited ability to change out golf bags shouldn't limit our ability to have fun though. An inexpensive and functional way to dress up your game is through a cool junior golf towel!

Golf Towel Types
There are several type of golf towels out there, but here we break down a few of the more common styles you'll see:
Microfiber Waffle Towel
The microfiber waffle towel has been a staple in the industry for years. It's thin design makes it lightweight and easy to transport. The waffle pattern can hold a substantial amount of water over the the round as well, so you don't have to worry about it drying out. The microfiber material means it's safe for clubs or can be used to clean glasses (just don't use it for both!).
All of Atta Golf's towels are microfiber waffle style!

Caddie Towel
Caddie Towels are typically a thicker, ribbed cotton design and you'll often find them in all white or white with the colored pin-striping. You'll often find these towels provided by the country clubs with each round as they are relatively inexpensive and can be disposed of and replaced with ease. The construction makes them the most absorbent of towel and great for keep cool. If you do use them to clean your clubs, they will dirty up quickly and need to be laundered or replaced.
Microfiber / Fleece Combo Towel
A newer style of golf towel out there now is a microfiber / fleece combo. The front patter is a microfiber hexagonal pattern creating a nice plush surface. The opposite side is a solid color fleece fabric that is soft and great for wiping yourself down. It a great one size fits all option for cleaning. You'll find these in your local pro-shop, but it's probably made by Devant Towels.

Golf Towel Sizes
Golf towels come in a variety of sizes and it always seems like they are getting bigger! More surface area means you can clean more, but it's also frustrating when the towel is getting dragged on the ground or caught in the cart wheels. It's important to get the correct size for your use. Below are the primary sizes you'll come across:
Caddie Towel: These are massive, clocking in around 22" x 44". The reason for the size is that caddies often carry these for the players and need to maximize the functionality and use over the round.
Tour / Players Towel: These towels are larger adult sizes options ranging from 18"x36" to 20"x40". These are great for driving carts, but I still find these to drag on the ground when walking.
Junior Golf Towel: This is a smaller sized towel at 16"x32" that can be hung on the bag. It's honestly a great sized towel for both kids and adults and has plenty of surface space to keep the clubs clean without dragging on the ground. Not many companies are offering this smaller sized towel, but you can get them at Atta Golf!
